چکیده

This paper presents an implementation of an Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) cryptoprocessor on a Nano Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), that maybe be interesting for resource-constrained devices that require moderate level of security. Nano FPGAs offer groundbreaking possibilities in power, size, lead-times, operating temperature and cost. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first ECC implementation on Nano FPGAs. The proposed ECC cryptoprocessor was modeled using VHDL and synthesized on Actel IGLOO AGLN250V2-VQFP100 Nano FPGA. The synthesis results show that the targeted Nano FPGA can't exceed the values of m ≤ 11 bits. This is because of the limited number of resources available on Nano FPGAs, which opens a new challenging opportunity for future Nano FPGAs to satisfy the needs of critical portable applications and resource-constrained devices, such as Wireless Sensor Network (WSN).

Reconfigurable Implementation of Elliptic Curve Crypto Algorithms

For FPGA based coprocessors for elliptic curve cryptography, a significant performance gain can be achieved when hybrid coordinates are used to represent points on the elliptic curve. We provide a new area/performance tradeoff analysis of different hybrid representations over fields of characteristic two. Moreover, we present a new generic cryptoprocessor architecture that can be adapted to var...

Towards Faster and Greener Cryptoprocessor for Eta Pairing on Supersingular Elliptic Curve over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{1223}}$

For the first time ever, the FPGA based cryptoprocessor presented in [12] makes it possible to compute an eta pairing at the 128-bit security level in less than one millisecond. The high performance of their cryptoprocessor comes largely from the use of the Karatsuba method for field multiplication. In this article, for the same type of pairing we propose hybrid sequential/parallel multipliers ...

Performance Evaluation of ECC in Single and Multi Processor Architectures on FPGA Based Embedded System

Cryptographic algorithms are computationally costly and the challenge is more if we need to execute them in resource constrained embedded systems. Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) having programmable logic devices and processing cores, have proven to be highly feasible implementation platforms for embedded systems providing lesser design time and reconfigurability. Design parameters like ...

A Comparison of Double Point Multiplication Algorithms and their Implementation over Binary Elliptic Curves

Efficient implementation of double point multiplication is crucial for elliptic curve cryptographic systems. We revisit three recently proposed simultaneous double point multiplication algorithms. We propose hardware architectures for these algorithms, and provide a comparative analysis of their performance. We implement the proposed architectures on Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA, and report on the area...

ECC on Your Fingertips: A Single Instruction Approach for Lightweight ECC Design in GF(p)

Lightweight implementation of Elliptic Curve Cryptography on FPGA has been a popular research topic due to the boom of ubiquitous computing. In this paper we propose a novel single instruction based ultra-light ECC crypto-processor coupled with dedicated hard-IPs of the FPGAs. We show that by using the proposed single instruction framework and using the available block RAMs and DSPs of FPGAs, w...
